The name Pelican is synonymous with quality, rugged, and durability so that's what I expect with their textile line. I wasn't wowed but satisfied. OUTER SHELL Is a thicker more rugged water repellant micro ripstop, much nicer than 2 other down filled camping blankets I have which snag easily.DOWN FILLING is 80 percent per the sewn on tag.The triangular baffles are filled fairly equally, (I shared a photo but it just didn't come out that great since the shell is thicker and less transparent). I fluffed it in the dryer to see it's full fluff glory and was impressed, it's similar to our down comforter at home. The underside of the sewn on stow pocket is a waterproof coating and the same fabric as the shell, so I figure the shell has the same coating. It holds and sheds water well, but leaks at the triangular baffle stitching.VERSATILITY BLANKET- If your under 5'8"tall it makes a nice sleeping blanket, or if over that expect you'll be in a fetal position to tuck it under your chin, and have foot coverage.SLEEPING BAG- This has 6 snaps along the long edges when folded in 1/2, but no snaps where the sewn on storage bag is attached at the midway point leaving roughly a 12" plus gap opening. It's also fairly narrow. So it would make a better sleeping bag liner for thinner folks and not a stand alone sleeping bag.SHAWL- the snaps make this more like a slicker and go all the way down. When wearing it the sewn on storage bag is either hanging down you back or dragging on the ground If upside down. It would have been nice if they designed the sewn on storage bag to act as a hood for even better versatility.STORAGE OPTIONS other than the sewn on roll down side release buckle bag, it has an elastic band stitched on the short end so you can 1/4 fold and roll up instead of stuffing in the bag. Something I've learned over years is to store the blanket hung over a hanger instead of in the compression bag, then use the stuff sack when your ready to use it. This prevents the down loft from permanent premature crushing and keeps if fluffing up longer.OVERALL THOUGHTS I do like the durable shell and down/feather fluffy loft. I would like to see some closable arm holes for use when wearing it, also make the sewn on stuff sack so it can be used as a hood. The overall craftsmanship was good not great, I had many areas with untrimmed threads. I expect from the durable outer shell and care, for this to last me 20 years of use.Hopefully this was helpful, Thank you! This is a nice warm blanket. It doesn't compact down to the smallest thing ever, but not terrible for the size. The one thing that is both good and bad about this blanket is the carry bag. It's attached to the blanket. So great that you won't loose it, but not great in that sometimes it's in the way or catching on stuff or you can feel it, etc.A high quality-blanket, as I expected, coming from Pelican and priced at $200. I found no flaws in the stitching, surface, or embellishments (snaps, handle loop, bag clip). The attached bag has a heavy waterproofing coating on the interior (I didn’t even find this advertised in the listing). This has the typical slippery surface I expect with quality camping gear. This also makes packing it a breeze, as it stuffs easily back into the attached pouch.Overall, the design appears to be well thought out with a pouch that cannot be lost, snaps well positioned for versatile use as a sleeping blanket or outerwear, and a handle loop for hanging or any number of potential uses. My only con is that this might be a bit overpriced at $200, but if you want nothing but the best from your outdoor gear, then don’t pass this up.But that’s JustMe. (I received this product in exchange for an honest review, and that is what I have offered here.)I have purchased a few items from Pelican over the years and have always been happy with quality and performance. This blanket is no different and lives up to the Pelican brand. My family loves spending time in the outdoors and this blanket is a great piece of gear to have on hand. I packed it on our last camping trip and it's very useful. Great for wrapping up in front of the campfire or using as a blanket in the tent. The snaps make this very versatile. The down filling gives it great loft and is excellent for keeping warm. Its ripstop nylon is rugged and I expect it to hold up well. The stuff sack is attached so it can't be lost - a great feature! Aside from its functionality, it looks great too. I have the Olive Drab color and it's a great classic outdoorsy color with contrasting bright-green trim.I'm really happy with this blanket from Pelican and highly recommend it!This is really lightweight and once its placed in it's built-in pouch, can be easily stored. I like the buttons vs. zipper so it can work as a sleeping bag. Material is waterproof, which also means it can create a little moisture on a humid night. Great idea for a day trip or for a beach day. Only real annoying thing is the big attached tags and that this is more of a plastic material, vs. a microfiber for the interior. My family and I are getting ready for our first vacation in two years and when I saw this blanket, I thought it would be a good item to take with us. The blanket is actually soft and similar to sleeping bag material. I like it because it’s so lightweight and could be packed around anywhere. The blanket comes with its own carrying pouch, which makes it easy to take from place to place. With it being filled with 650 duck down, it’s going to keep its users warm in cool conditions. I haven’t had the opportunity to test it in freezing conditions yet since I received it in the summer, but since it’s not a higher count of down, I wouldn’t recommend it for sub-zero temperatures. I also noticed that the box stated that the material is flammable so that is something to be conscious of when using while camping. The quality of this blanket is top-notch and I would get it again.I have another great outdoor blanket like this... the Pelican is a step up over that. Which I suppose is reasonable given this costs 3 times more. The Pelican blanket is sturdy, waterproof, and well thought out. The snaps allow me to configure this as a parka, blanket, a wrap, etc. One trick with these is to recognize that after taking this out of the bag, recognize that it will take a little time to fluff up... it will be that much warmer as the down material naturally expands.Very very useful blanket with many uses outdoors.
